The service
Gather Upstairs runs party games for Bible and church-history nights at gatherupstairs.com. An organiser opens a game on a big screen; players join on their phones with a room code. These terms are between you, as an organiser with an account, and the seller named above. Players do not make accounts and these terms ask nothing of them.
Plans and prices
The plans, what each includes and its price are on our pricing page. Prices are in South African rand, are final, and VAT is not charged. If we change a price, it applies from your next renewal after we have told you by email, never to a period you have already paid for.
The Founder plan is offered to anyone who subscribes before 30 days after our public launch; once we launch, the closing date is on the pricing page. You keep the Founder price for as long as you stay subscribed, at every renewal, monthly or yearly. Once a Founder plan ends (you cancel it, or it is not paid by the end of the days of retries), it cannot be taken again: a new plan is at the normal price. If you move from Founder to another plan after the closing date, you cannot move back to Founder; and a move to Founder made before the closing date takes effect only if your next renewal comes before it.
The free trial
Each paid plan starts with a 7-day free trial. To start it, you save a card on Paystack's secure page; Paystack checks it with a charge of R1, which we refund at once. We do not see or keep your card number. We email you 3 days before the trial ends with the amount and the date of the first charge. If you cancel before the trial ends, you are never charged. The free trial is given once per card, even after an account is deleted.
Charges and reminders
When the trial ends, we charge your saved card the plan's price, then the same each month or year. We email you before every charge: 3 days before a monthly charge and 7 days before a yearly one, with the amount, the date and a link to cancel. We never charge without that reminder having been sent. If a charge fails we try again over 7 days and your plan carries on meanwhile; after that your account moves to Free. Nothing you made, such as your saved nights, is deleted.
Cancelling
You can cancel at any time, in two taps, from your account page or from the link in any reminder. You keep your plan until the end of the trial or the period you have paid for, then your account moves to Free. Nothing is deleted.
Refunds
If you cancel within 7 days of your first charge, we refund that charge in full, with any upgrade you paid for in those days, and your account moves to Free at once. The R1 card check when you save a card is refunded at once. After that, cancelling stops future charges and you keep the plan to the end of the paid period; we do not refund part of a period, unless the law requires it. If something went wrong, such as a charge you did not expect, write to hello@gatherupstairs.com and we will put it right. Refunds go back to the card that paid, through Paystack, and usually show within a few working days.
Using Gather Upstairs well
Please use the games for the gatherings they are made for, keep players' names to first names or nicknames, and run games for children only with a parent's or guardian's permission. Don't try to break, overload or copy the service. We may close an account that does, after telling you why where we can.
Our content
The games, characters, art, music and questions belong to us or to those who licensed them to us. Scripture on screen is from public-domain translations. You may play the games with your groups; you may not copy or resell them.
Availability and liability
We work to keep Gather Upstairs running and your game nights smooth, but we cannot promise it will never be interrupted. As far as the law allows, our liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under the Consumer Protection Act or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
Your information
How we handle personal information is on our privacy page.
Changes and the law
If we change these terms we will email organisers before the change takes effect. These terms are governed by the law of South Africa. Questions or complaints: hello@gatherupstairs.com.
